CRADLE OF FILTH

Cradle of Filth, from Suffolk, UK, in their ten year career have moved from their initial release on a tiny independent label to a worldwide deal with Sony and Roadrunner Records.

Summer 2003 they headlined the B-stage on the US’s prestigious Ozzfest, the first European band to be handed this accolade, in the spot previously filled by the likes of Slipknot.

Albums sales are in excess of a million. Their first long-form video stayed on the US Billboard video chart for 7 weeks, the first black metal band to feature there, let alone make it to No 12. Their last album, Damnation And A Day, released on Sony worldwide, charted top 20 in Europe.

They have featured in TV shows, including a BBC TV documentary, Living With The Enemy, which has been shown worldwide. Their press varies from National papers, to Metal, Porn and Lifestyle magazines and Sunday supplements. Dani has starred in a Horror movie. There are plans this year for a book.

COF have always courted controversy. When arrested at the Vatican, the promoter had to bail them out from machine-gun wielding Vatican police; before a riot broke out at the sold out venue they should have been performing at that night.

COF’s merchandise is a major force and various people have taken offence at the notorious, ‘Jesus’ shirt, which has lead to arrests both sides of the Atlantic; a campaign by the Catholic League Of America to have the shirt banned and the Chief Provost of Glasgow demanding the Police should remove the shirts from Tower Records; which boosted sales dramatically.

2004 sees the release of their next studio record, Nymphetamine, on Roadrunner, accompanied with a world tour.
